Puerto Banus is located on the western Costa del Sol in the Marbella area about a 5 minute drive from the centre of Marbella, heading west in the direction of Estepona. It is possible to walk to Puerto Banus from Marbella along the sea front as a promenade stretches pretty much all the way, although it is a long(ish) walk and not really recommended in the hot summer sun of the Costa del Sol.

Puerto Banus is one of the most famous and most visited places on the Costa del Sol. It is known mainly for its fantastic yacht marina where tourists flock to watch the luxury yachts arrive. It has for many years been known as a playground for rich and famous personalities and maintains that reputation today. But the port and surrounding areas cater for all pockets and many holiday makers now book hotels or rent houses and apartments in the Puerto Banus area to experience the unique atmosphere that the developer Jose Banus created back in the 1960's when he transformed a quaint fishing village into a socialites dream.

puerto BanusThere are hundreds of shops, bars, clubs and restaurants in Puerto Banus to choose from. The 'main' shop at Puerto Banus is the spectacular department store called El Corte Ingles. This is located at the entrance to Puerto Banus and has many concessions including a designer clothes section carrying a very extensive range from the world's top fashion houses, an electrical and household section, a perfumery and cosmetics section, in fact there is little you cannot find in this store. The basement houses a massive supermarket area. Opposite the main entrance of El Corte Ingles is a shopping centre called Marina Banus, which offers a good range of shops and some cafes on the lower floor.

To the side of El Corte Ingles is yet another shopping centre called the Cristamar centre where again you will find a number of restaurants, cafes and many other types of shops both inside the centre and right along the outside.

To the other side of El Corte Ingles is a square called Plaza de Antonio Banderas. Here you will find more shops, designer clothes shops, restaurants, cafes, bars and clubs. In the summer months there is an 'Artisan' market held in a large part of the square. This facility is very popular and well worth a visit.

Puerto Banus

The Marina

As you head down to the main marina area of the port you will find that the volume of people increases. This section has many designer shops including gems like Loius Vuitton, Dolce and Gabanna and Dior but to mention a few. All along this section there are many good quality restaurants, lively bars and clubs. For fans of exotic cars there can be few places to match the constant stream you will see on the port.

Marina Puerto Banus

Soak up the Hollywood ambiance from a nearby cafe and 'people watch', or take a leisurely stroll past the multi-million pound yachts. During summer, the atmosphere transforms at night with people filling the streets For the young and young at heart you can head to the second line for a long night of partying in the sophisticated night clubs, or relax in one of the Piano Bars or restaurants along the front, facing the Marina.
