If all that shopping, dining and people watching isn't your scene, don't forget that Puerto Banus, the jewel of the Costa del Sol (often referred to as the Costa del Golf) is located at the heart of one of the world's most popular Golfing playgrounds. The area attracts golfers from all over the globe; the whole region 'spells' Golf from sunrise to sunset all year round. There are in excess of 50 Championship Courses in the region, with the famous courses of Las Brisas, Aloha & Los Naranjos just 2 minutes away from 'Casa 89'.
Whilst other areas of Spain, and indeed the world, scramble to build more golf courses, the Costa del Sol has long been a favoured destination. Consequently the quality of these established courses and their facilities are much higher than almost anywhere else. The warm year round climate and the mature courses have created a golfers paradise where players of any level can enjoy a round.
Handicap Certificates: Be sure to bring a handicap certificate from your home club as some courses require them. Distances are measured in meters so you will need to add about 15 percent to relate to yards. You are also well advised to book Tee times well in advance between Jan-May & Sep-Nov.
Golf Attire: Traditional golf attire is of course perfectly acceptable. Most courses will insist on shirts with a collar and the correct footwear.
Golf Carts and Caddies: Electric carts/buggies, are often used in Spain and can be hired for an additional charge. However, certain courses, such as Montemayor, which follows valleys and climbs mountains, require them. In this case, the buggie is usually included in the greens fee charge. Most courses will arrange caddies, however be sure to arrange this in advance as caddies can be scarce at peak times.
Club Houses: Most golf courses in the area have luxurious club houses with excellent restaurants, usually with panoramic views of the course from an outdoor terrace.
